This summer, we are pleased to welcome again members of the Oxford Round Table to Harris Manchester College for five weeks. The arrival of the Round Table is always an event which we greatly enjoy as it brings to the College academics, teachers and administrators from around the world. This year, participants in the sessions of the Round Table include professors from Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Germany, India, Japan, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Poland and the United States. This summer topics for papers will cover such matters as educational quality, child poverty, gender equality, politics, religion and law.

We are pleased that Dr. Mads Andenas, Supernumerary Fellow of Harris Manchester Has been invited by the Oxford Round Table to lead the session concerning international perspectives on the “Rule of Law”. Dr. Andenas also serves as Senior Fellow in European Community Law at the Institute of European and Comparative Law, Oxford University. In addition to his fellowships at Harris Manchester College and Oxford University, Dr. Andenas is Professor of Law at the University of Oslo, Norway.

The professional staff of the Oxford Round Table ensure the academic quality of all the events. The major College responsibilities concern the provision of meals, accommodation and looking after the welfare of the delegates. We are grateful to our High Steward, David Woodfine, our conference organizer, Mrs. Patricia Edwards, together with our Bursary, Housekeeping and Catering staff who work hard to make everyone feel welcome.

We have enjoyed the Round Table conferences at Harris Manchester College for many years; they bring pleasant and mature academics, teachers and administrators into the College and there is a very high level of satisfaction among the delegates who attend.
